Leather Taxonomy

Every product in our catalog is described along four dimensions: leather type, application, characteristics, and measured technical attributes. A hide is never just a name.

Leather types cover cowhide, lambskin, calfskin, goatskin, shearling, suede, nubuck, hair-on and novelty. Applications span apparel, handbags, accessories, footwear, furniture, automotive, interiors and craft. Characteristics describe how a hide behaves: soft, structured, lightweight, heavyweight, full-grain, nappa, suede, metallic, embossed, printed, washed and patent.

Technical attributes — weight in ounces, thickness in millimetres, temper, hide size and finish — appear in the same standardized block on every product page, so a skin called "Roma" resolves to lambskin, lightweight, soft, drapey, apparel, jackets.
